Homework:
Your child will receive a weekly homework packet each Monday that will be due on Fridays. They are expected to read at least 20 minutes each night and track their reading on the log portion of the homework packet. Additionally, they will choose 2 out of 9 written assignments choices to complete during the week, as well as complete 2 math worksheets which will review previously taught concepts.
Each child will be asked to purchase a Homework Agenda through the school to keep track of homework and extra assignments. It is a planner with a calendar where the kids will copy down their homework assignments daily each morning, and I will initial to hold them accountable. This is an important skill that kids will need more as they get older and head into middle and high school, and it allows them to learn to be responsible for their own work and homework habits. As a parent, this homework agenda will allow you to monitor your child's assignments daily and you will be able to easily see what they have for homework each night. I recommend that you briefly look over your child's homework each night and if you see any problem areas, just jot me a note or send me an email. I am flexible with the homework itself, but focus heavily on establishing good habits, organization, responsibility, and independence.
